The Friends of Cahuenga Library regretfully announces the passing of our longtime member, Christine Ramsey, who ran our twice-monthly Book Sale and served as our treasurer.
Born in Hackney, London, England on January 11, 1937, she survived the bombing of her hometown as a young girl during World War II. She moved to the United States in 1961 and settled here in the East Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles in 1964 where she had lived and been a dedicated patron of the Cahuenga Branch Library ever since. She enjoyed simple things like going out for breakfast, quilting and conversation, but her biggest affinity was reading books. Christine has faithfully and tirelessly volunteered at the Cahuenga Branch Library for the past 17-plus years, running our twice-monthly Book Sale and served as treasurer of the Friends of Cahuenga Library. She suffered a stroke in August of this year and passed away due to complications on August 22, 2021 at the age of 84. She is survived by a daughter and two sisters.
We, along with our library’s staff and patrons, will miss her friendly and chatty demeanor, her unyielding love of books and her dedication to the Cahuenga Branch Library.
