Over 60 LAPL volunteers gather at the L.A. City Council meeting on April 21 to be recognized for their $4.4 million worth in volunteer hours to the City in 2016.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Over 60 Los Angeles Public Library volunteers, including several Friends of library branches gathered at Van Nuys City Hall on April 21 for a presentation in front of the Los Angeles City Council meeting recognizing the\u00a0$4,401,791.37 worth in hours put in by the LAPL’s 6,250 volunteers in 2016.<\/p>\n

Elson Trinidad, president of the Friends of Cahuenga Library was there to represent our Friends group and was recognized along with five other LAPL volunteer representatives in the 13th Council District by Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell<\/a>, who made the council presentation along with City Librarian John Szabo<\/a>. O’Farrell chairs the Arts, Entertainment, Parks and River Committee on the City Council, which includes the LAPL system.<\/p>\n

\nThe presentation ended with Szabo, O’Farrell and the LAPL volunteers holding up an oversized check for $4.4 million to the City representing the monetized hours by LAPL volunteers last year.<\/p>\n

After the presentation, the group posed for a group photo outside the Van Nuys City Hall building and gathered for a lunch reception at the nearby Van Nuys Branch Library.<\/p>\n
